چکیده

Plants are host to diverse microbiome that might have co-evolved since millions of years. This resident microbiota can act as extended genome by contributing in plant growth, development and protection from biotic and abiotic stresses. Rice (Oryza Sativa) is a staple food consumed by more than 50% of the world’s population. Herein we targeted the bacterial community associated with the healthy rice seeds. In this direction, we isolated and carried out whole genome sequencing of 100 bacterial isolates. These isolates belong to three major bacterial phyla Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Actinobacteria that spread over 15 distinct genus and 29 species. A phylogenetic tree based on a broad set of phylogenomic marker genes confirmed the evolutionary relationship amongst the strains and their phylogenetic grouping. Average Nucleotide Identity was also used to establish species identity of isolates that form a particular phylogenetic and taxonomic grouping. The data generated from the present study is one of the first major genomic resources in the field of phytobiome research. Whole genome sequence of the members will be invaluable in this era of big data driven research. Moreover, themajority of genus and species identified in this study are already known for plant probiotic properties. This genomic data with annotation will aid in comparative, evolutionary and ecological studies of bacteria associated with plants or multi-kingdom bacteria associated with nosocomial infections.

Identification of predominant epiphytic and endophytic bacterial isolates in rice seeds effective for enhancement of seed germination and plant growth

ABSTRACT-During rice growing season, the symptomless rice seeds from different paddy fields in Guilan province, Iran, were collected. After isolation of epiphytic and endophytic bacteria, 39 isolates including 19 epiphytes and 20 endophytes were selected based on the predominant characteristics. Five Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs) were obtained based on PCR-RFLP of 16S r-DN...

Glimpse into the Genomes of Rice Endophytic Bacteria: Diversity and Distribution of Firmicutes

Endophytic bacteria inhabit within plant tissues without causing any evident damage to the host and play crucial roles in plant growth, development, fitness, and protection (Farrar et al., 2014; Truyens et al., 2015). These endophytic bacteria spend a portion of their life cycle inside plants and normally resides on intercellular spaces and gain carbohydrates, amino acids, and inorganic nutrien...

Growth promotion and induction of systemic resistance in rice cultivar Co-47 (Oryza sativa L.) by Methylobacterium spp

Pink-pigmented facultatively methylotrophic bacteria (PPFMs), persistent colonizers of plant leaf surfaces, belong to the genus Methylobacterium and are mostly transmitted through seeds. Plant growth-promoting activity of methylotrophic bacteria and their effects on disease suppression were evaluated on rice under greenhouse conditions. Rice seeds were inoculated with Methylobacterium sp. strai...

Effects of pre-sowing seed treatments on establishment of dry direct-seeded early rice under chilling stress

Mechanization and simplification are inevitable trends in agriculture production to decrease input demands and simultaneously improve resource use efficiency. Dry direct-seeded rice is a resource-saving cropping system and has been considered as a replacement for traditional transplanted rice. However, the poor establishment of dry direct-seeded early rice, primarily induced by chilling stress,...

اثر باکتری‌های جنس سودوموناس بر خواص شیمیایی- زیستی خاک، عملکرد و اجزای عملکرد دو رقم برنج

To evaluate the effect of plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) on soil physical and chemical indices, yield and its components of two rice cultivars, an experiment was arranged in Rice Researches Institute of Guilan Province during 2009. The experiment design consisted of four randomized complete blocks in a factorial arrangement having 16 treatments in every block. In this research, two fact...
